The just-ended SRC elections called for cheers for the new SRC presidential elect, Vincent Henneh and his supporters. However, his opposing mate, Douglas Frimpong, expressed dissatisfaction towards the outcome of the results and petitioned to have the EC taken to court.
The election happened on the 26th April, 2019 at Mataheko, Miotso and Kumasi campuses respectively with Mr Vincent Henneh winning with 860 votes equivalent to 58.79% and Mr Douglas Frimpong, 600 votes and 41.21% respectively.
The camp of the trailing team expressed concern about the provisional Mataheko results that was released by polling officer that saw Mr Vincent Henneh winning with a very wide margin.
The aggrieved persons have filed a petition against the credibility and validity of the just ended elections.
The petitioners have submitted their letter to the Chief Justice of Central University, Mr Kofi Kyere Asante with a long list of the witnesses and other august petitioners who are supporting their course.
The president elect then believes his interest can be affected and hence filed an application for joinder to be added to the suit a few days.
Making the case more interesting, the Electoral Commissioner of the University, Mr Kofi Attakora also responded to the claims of Mr Frimpong and sent an official defense letter to the Chief Justice.
The hearing is set to come off on 2nd May , 2019.
