Isn’t New Year meant for us?
It seems to me that the phrase “New Year” comes off as more of a jinx than a good wish to Ghanaian pastors. It is so sad though, that I had to generalize this, believing that there are some good ones out there but the “Christian-ic” tantrums are becoming unbecoming.
In Ghana, almost every year, just when we arrive at a fresh start and we’ve shared baskets, kisses, hugs and letters of good tidings of the new year, out of nowhere jumps a pastor or “prophet” on screen, to prophesy ill-will onto a particular group or person; which in some cases, headlines a bad note of the year’s beginning.
Funny enough, they perform such actions on the biblical basis of “The Lord reveals to redeem” and instead of the redemption being to rebuke such thoughts or plans, they rather succeed in arousing the “Eeeiis”, “Aahhs” and “Owws” of the people, with the assurance of us to expect the worse.
This year has met a similar situation. And guess those who made the list on Prophet Nigel Gaisie and Owusu Bempah’s vision of doom? Their prophesies captured:
- A bad year for Kuami Eugene, Kidi and Kwesi Arthur.
- The death of a female news anchor (unknown) in GHone.
- The death of the Chief Imam.
- The death of a former vice president and first lady (unknown).
- The death of Bawumia.

This really calls for an exclamation of Oh My Gosh (O.M.G)! I believe this shocked, not only me, but everyone who heard this. For those who were present at the respective prophetic services, I can’t imagine their expression. What more can I say or do? I’m just an ordinary young man with the power of a pen and paper. Sure! I can make a difference! But without the “light” that these pastors carry, I might just loose “this battle”.
All the same, presuming this year’s end is the deadline, we live to see if I’ll eat my words or if there’ll be a bite-back (which has already started) against these prophets. For once, we deserve to chop some of the NEW in NEW YEAR or….
WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY?
Good piece Abram....i wonder why these prophets don't openly prophecy good things about public figures

ReplyDeleteit's so sad we give hearing these things all the time. To me religious practice especially in the Christian cycle is loosing it's core value, more over salvation is no more preached but all we hear is miracle advertisement and materials of vanity in Church. God see us through. this is a #blackslavery
