I believe most of us have been abreast with the news of a
young lady by name Stacy Offei Darko who died after a visit to the hospital of
a surgeon, Dr. Dominic Obeng Andoh, popularly known for helping ladies have
their perfect body through implants and stuff like that. Well, after the shock,
numerous comments were centered on guys being the reason and cause for ladies
not appreciating themselves because we are never satisfied with their looks.
Honestly, I wouldn’t give that a 100 percent backing. Peer
pressure is one of the factors leading to these vast enterprises of plastic
surgeries and drug intakes for ladies to gain their desired outlooks. Some girls
do have a seemingly intimidating way of suppressing the self-esteem of their
fellow ladies through their insistent gossips and shy-away of friends who don’t
match up to their “class”. and this, pushes the other to go in for the physical
make up just so they could achieve their dream of being an envy.
It is also without a doubt, sad but true, that some guys do
play a part in this balderdash that girls would go the mile to find themselves
in; and by reason of desperation to please the guys, they foolishly bask in the
ministration of perfectionism. Funny enough, it doesn’t end there. Some “class”
of ladies have been identified for cutting coats bigger than their sizes-thus,
the coined term, Slay Queens. Why
all this stress?
Call me crazy, but this is by far the silliest thing ever to
occur as a societal issue. Where our ladies of today, go the distance to
transform their natural God-given bodies into plastic monstrosities because
they “can’t seem to get enough”; and
our “slay queens” always want to “have
it all”. Well, it’s time to call it all quits!
The pressure on ladies to be beautiful keeps rising but we
can help bring it down by learning to encourage and appreciate them. God made
us all beautiful and we would only end up destroying that beauty when we allow
negative thoughts to demean us and lower our self-esteem. Remember ladies! No
amount of plastic ass, breasts or facials can hold a man down. Just be real and
we will love you for you.
Again, here’s another thought we can all sleep on: there
probably is a very rich man out there who can’t swim in his pool of wealth
because he has to carry an oxygen tank everywhere he goes and he’s also envying
the poor man who swims in a pool of rainy water but walks about freely,
breathing from his nostrils intact. Let’s think it wise to cut our coats
according to our sizes and be grateful for all that we have. It’s ok to slay if
you’ve achieved through hard work and made it but it’s gauche to be called a
slay queen for blowing off and being devoid of common sense...!
