IF SEX WAS A PRISON SENTENCE

My next bold step in the writing world focuses on a very popular topic that has sat me through periods of lectures and talks on abstinence from the one thing so hard to resist. Yes! I’m talking about sex. The irresistible steaming pleasure that has got lots of people wrapped in its sheets of romance and excitement. A feeling so good, that it has gushed its way to becoming a norm with young adults and adolescents these days. But I got myself wondering: would the feeling still be the same, if sex was served as punishment for a prison sentence?

On a least surprising but still disappointing scale, teenage pregnancy, abortion or contraction of sexually transmitted diseases seems to be the outcome of pre-marital sex, which of course, is a disturbing headache in our society. However, there has been an introduction of measures to practice safe sex and control early births and for that matter, we can’t argue. Frankly though, I think more has to be done to ensure a better way of control than to just provide a lubricated rubber that can stretch and a pill; seeing how these things could rather stimulate the sex drive.

I’ve come across young girls who openly request for these birth control pills at pharmacies and at such moments, I can’t even open my mouth. Not to presume the worst case scenario, but as culture grounded as I believe we are, no parent would send his or her daughter to get birth control pills. Maybe it was for a friend but yet again, who am I to sit on the happiness of the young heart who wishes to wildly enjoy their youthful exuberance?

Perhaps, if the law would permit, sex as a prison punishment would knock some sense into the head. Since being chaste is difficult, pleasure could put us in our place OR even better, we could learn to build in discipline by refraining from the things that stall our minds and drive us to such destructions.
